Channelling my inner Mitty
Iceland's incredible combination of fire and ice has long intrigued me, recently we took the time to explore this fantastic and often alien landscape for ourselves, it didn't disappoint. A recent extra motivation for this adventure came in the form of the movie 'The secret life of Walter Mitty' in which Walter, played by Ben Stiller, is a day dreamer of the tenth degree. He's long dreamed of travelling the world but life's path has curtailed his dreams and instead he's settled into routine and procrastination. As his story continues a series of events sends him on an adventure that stretches him way past his usual comfort zone and by the end of his travels emerges a new and much more confident version of his former self. One of the most noted scenes in the movie is when Mitty rides his newly acquired longboard down an amazingly scenic twisting mountain road. Much as packing my #1 Cuda Skate Deck proved challenging, I set myself the challenge to skate some of the locations in the movie including this picturesque downhill. As it turned out this hill was a bit too steep for my skill level and the short wheelbase of my 'Redhead' deck but I still had fun riding what I could.
